top suggestions!

what i'm digging at the moment (comes with a full mod.zool.disco rockin guarantee):

01/andre kraml - safari (james holden remix) [crosstown rebels promo]
glitchy trance complete with creature noises from the MAN, James Holden!
02/metope - second skin [sender]
rock! the berlin sound in a perfect captured moment
03/the mfa - the difference it makes (superpitcher remix) [kompakt pop]
beautiful floating poppy waves from superpitcher on remix duties
04/ost & kjex - have you seen the moon in dallas [planet noise]
quirky fun disco with a shout out to Dallas no less, from a couple of crazy norwegians
05/kelis - trick me (tiefschwarz special trick mix) [virgin]
dance! tiefschwarz do it again. they are so on form
06/heim - she's the one (mathew jonson's circles in time remix) [crosstown rebels]
epic. mathew jonson is genius
07/envoy - move on (alex smoke dub) [soma]
the bassline
08/villalobos - dexter [playhouse]
understated beauty
09/steve lawler - out at night (nathan fake's a night in remix) [subversive]
just so good... nathan fake continues to prove hes one of the best.
10/le dust sucker - love me [plong]
rock out! actually anything by le dust sucker rocks.

albums to get:

interpol - antics 4/5

quite impressive. can't decide if this betters their first album 'turn out the bright lights' (which in my opinion is a modern classic), but it still rocks and shows a growth musically. things are a little more upbeat and poppy in places while still maintaining that interpol heaviness.

fabric 19 - andrew weatherall 5/5

awesome mix cd from london's fabled Fabric. andy weatherall combines bouncing acid house and electro with full on rock elements in superb form. my only complaint is the upbrupt transition into the final cut, technova's atmosphere (which happens to be a joy division cover).
stand out tracks:
metope - second skin
miwon - brother mole (john tejada remix)
the emporer machine - bloody hell

long overdue update

well, its been a while since mzd04Q3 was sent out and the reviews have deemed it a smashing success. actually, there were only 2 responses, but they were both positive...kristin even descrived it as "fun!" (i think it must have been the irrestible one-two electro combo of the tiefschwarz remix and the new rex the dob bside.)

work has begun on mzd04Q4. looking pretty good thus far.

i've begun a bit of my own production work as well. it's mostly been a frustrating enterprise. i think i like something for a day, and then later i feel its quite rubbish. i think that's how any artist feels about their stuff, whatever the medium (unless of course they are a raging megalomanic).

so far about the only thing finished is a remix of radiohead's 'the national anthem'
more on this remix and other productions to follow...

til next time,
kevin
