mod zool disco is back

after a 4 year absence, on this blog atleast, mzd is back tonight. my friend ken shigematsu and i are putting together a bi-weekly night at downtown dallas' italian eatery/bar, Porta Di Roma.

the night is called, wait for it...mod zool disco and will feature the latest dance stylings for your aural and footwork pleasure.

ken is the promoter and i will be djing. i have high hopes for this to become a permanent fixture. hopefully it takes off...there will podcasts of the live sets available after each show. more to come on that. in the meantime, get yourself down to Porta Di Roma tonight for a preview (official opening night to be later in february).

06, a new leaf...

the blog is going to undergo some slight reorganization in the coming weeks. hopefully by mid january it will sorted out. 05Q4 ended up being cancelled. 05Q3 was recorded recently and will be mailed out shortly. the holiday break was spent mainly in my studio, if you can call a desk niche in the corner of our loft, a studio. it was actually quite productive with several new songs coming out of the sessions that were meant to be spent only tweaking songs in progress. oh well, these new songs ended up stealing the show. my obsession with sleeparchive shows on these tracks. only one song has a melody to speak of. acid house and techno are the order of the day on this latest ep. hopefully a label will pick this up. also during this session, i stumbled upon the notes to nathan fake's outhouse while i was writing one of my own tracks. i decided to do a cover version of his song. i dont know if you could call it a remix, since i didn't have any of the original parts...i am going to post a downloadable mix containg my new tracks and this remix in the next few weeks. watch this space.

but i digress, this blog is supposed to be about my djing. good things are lined up for 06. tracklist is in the earliest of stages for 06q1. should be tasty.

other than music, i spent the holiday visiting with family and friends. 'twas a great time. have recently become obsessed with old episodes of "24" and am renting the dvds in order from season 1 onward.
